For me, David Hockney is one of them artists that creates just as many great paintings as he does terrible paintings. So I can’t say I love the artist, I have to say that I love his good works.. and bad works, not so much. Anyway, the artist is now showing at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, California through to the 20th of January.

There are a number of his monumental, multi panel landscape paintings and digital movies depicting England, Iceland, Norway and California. There’s also a number of his iPad Photoshop drawings of the Yosemite region.

Richard Benefield, deputy director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and organizer of the exhibition says..

Like an artist alchemist, in one minute Hockney uses a fancy digital device to make a colorful iPad drawing; in the next he shows us that he is one of our greatest draftsmen by rendering an exactingly detailed charcoal drawing of a forest scene in East Yorkshire.
